NCECA 2024 - Richmond, VA: Selling Pottery Wholesale

The National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts (NCECA) had their annual conference in Richmond, Va this year. My experience at NCECA 2024 was a completely different than the previous one. This time I went to work! In a manner of speaking! : )

I went to present what I knew to the clay community and gave a 30 minute talk on selling pottery wholesale to stores.

I had been prepping for this talk for almost a year- from pitching to the board, figuring out what to say so as to be informative and empowering for those wanting to sell their pottery. When my content was all set, and my article for the journal was done, it was weeks of practicing so I would not read my speech and not ramble on for over the stipulated time.

So when it was time for NCECA, aside from connecting with people in the field I had to get ready to present months ( and years if you count all the experience) worth of work to all the aspiring clay businesses.

The talk on Selling Pottery To Stores was at 9am and several people came up to me later asking for the slides from the powerpoint. Whether you overslept after a night of catching up with old friends and too many drink; or were stuck in traffic getting to it, or sadly stuck at the security gates with the long lines frisking all us potters for guns, knives and other sharp thing- This is for you!

Please let me know if it helps you and share it with others who may find it useful.

Looking forward to hearing from y'all.

Warmly,

Tara
